Overview During my time in physics, I have learned a variety of topics, equations, formulas, and ideas that further continue my intelligence and learning when it comes to my life. However, there has always been something in nature that has always gripped my attention more than anything else. Water. Water as a general concept is something that is truly a miracle for life. It allows all living creatures to survive through drinking, bathing, and an overall healthy and happy life for all. Because of this, I was able to derive the law from two different scientists regarding this topic. One of which was Evangelista Torricelli(Galileo’s assistant), who was able to derive Torricelli’s law v2 = 2gH, in where g represents the acceleration due to the†¦show more content†¦The total amount of water I chose to fill the bottle with is approximately 1700 mL since above that level of water the bottle shape begins to change. I chose to measure 100 mL differences for water volume differe nces in order to achieve a total range of numbers between 500 and 1700 mL. I also determined that at 1700 mL, the flow rate allowed for the water to drain nearly 100 mL over the 5 seconds recorded. If I used a value that was less than 100 mL, I would find that one trial would go into another trial. I chose use a period of 5 seconds for a few reasons. This period allows us to collect a vast range of data for the amount of drainage, between the values of 27 and 96 mL. If I used a longer duration, like for instance, 10 seconds, I would find that the amount of water drained would be roughly between the values of 50 and 200 mL, which would go into the other trials. The reason why I did not choose a value less than 5 seconds was because such a small value would greatly amplify the problem of my reaction time. Also, the values collected would go between 5 mL and 25 mL, which would be too small for this experiment to work. Finally, I chose to use 6 trials for each condition.
